The challenge

Club Nothing invited music collectives to propose an outrageous new way of experiencing music.

Rather than making the party bigger or louder, Nothing Expected challenges the idea that a club night has to be experienced in one particular way. Nightlife often centres around loud music, dancing and being in the middle of it.

The challenge was to make room for different ways of experiencing the same night.

The solution

Nothing Expected is a club night without one correct way to experience music.

The event unfolds across two connected spaces: a high-energy club and a slower environment for listening, talking and observing. The same music runs through both, and guests can move freely between them throughout the night.

There are no separate audiences and no choice to make beforehand.

The club

The high-energy side of the event. Dancing, performance, lighting and raw electronic music, with live instrumentation woven into the sound.

The second space

A slower environment for drinks, conversation, listening and observing. The music continues at a lower volume, while the club remains visible through the glass.

Plein Publiek, Brussels

Plein Publiek’s glass greenhouse and overlooking balcony keep both experiences in view. The transparent architecture reflects Nothing’s product design language.
